What SnipFor (the app) and snipfor.com (this website) do and don't do with your data.
Last updated: July 18, 2026
SnipFor never uploads your screen content to a cloud service. Screenshots, OCR text extraction, and edits happen entirely on your own computer and stay there. There is no account, no sign-in, and no server involved in the app's core functionality — SnipFor works fully offline.
SnipFor stores your preferences (hotkeys, language, save folder, theme) in a local settings file and, in some cases, the Windows registry on your own machine. None of this is transmitted anywhere.
This website uses Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to understand visitor statistics. These tools may place cookies in your browser and process technical information such as your IP address under Google's own privacy policy. This data is used to understand site traffic, not to personally target you.
Downloading SnipFor from GitHub, the Microsoft Store, or a third-party site (Softpedia, MajorGeeks) does not require you to provide any personal information to us. Those platforms have their own separate privacy policies for the download/install process itself.
This website and app are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from users under 13.
This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Significant changes will be posted on this page.
